Not reading, but doing

Thomas à Kempis was a Catholic monk, his best-known work is The Imitation of Christ. This brief quotation is a reminder that our actions are all-important.

At the Day of Judgement we shall not be asked what we have read but what we have done.

Thomas à Kempis (c. 1380–1471)

Not to criticise

Oswald Chambers here encourages us, instead of finding fault with people, to bring them before God in prayer. Chambers was a Scottish Christian minister and teacher, best known as the author of the devotional book My Utmost for His Highest. He died while serving as a chaplain during the First World War.

God never allows us to see another person at fault so we may criticise them, but only that we might intercede.

Oswald Chambers (1874–1917)
